NEW   Behlman's SQ300 Series is a rugged inverter that supplies 120 VAC from a 12 VDC source for continuous operation or standby operation of railroad signal equipment.

Hauppauge, New York, January 9, 2008 - Behlman Electronics Inc., known for its leadership in providing power products for industrial, commercial and military applications, has introduced the Behlman SQ300 Square Wave Inverter; a form-fit-function replacement for the Safetran CSP60. The latest addition to Behlman's railroad and transit signaling, the SQ300 Series provides fifty percent more power than the Safetran units it replaces.

Behlman's SQ300 is a rugged 300 VA inverter that supplies 120 VAC from a 12 VDC source for continuous or standby operation of railroad signal equipment. Its input is from a nominal 13.2 V lead acid or nickel cadmium battery, which allows for low internal impedance. Output is square wave with a fixed frequency; 60 Hz, 100 Hz or 250 Hz, +/- 1 percent regardless of load, input voltage or temperature. Output voltage is proportional to the input voltage, and the inverter has a high overload capacity of 110 percent.

"By providing a form-fit-function replacement for inverters that are nearing obsolescence, the SQ300 offers an easy and economical way to extend the life of railroad signaling applications - while delivering fifty percent more power than the units they replace," explained Behlman Vice President of Sales and Marketing Ron Storm. "Our customers asked for an inverter that could directly replace existing units, while providing better performance and with convenient options such as shelf or plug-board mounting… and Behlman delivered.

" The SQ300 can be shelf-mounted on supplied rubber feet, or plug-board mounted with optional bracket. Introductory price is $1,575, with delivery in 60 days.

In addition to the SQ300 inverter, Behlman's broad range of products for railroad signaling includes the RR Series (1200 to 2000 VA), BL (1350 VA), the BL HP Series (1 to 20 KVA), and the BL PLUS Series (25 to 120 KVA). More than forty models are available, with a tremendous array of options. "With this expansion of our SQ300-12 Series," continued Storm, "Not only can we meet any AC to AC signal requirement, but we can also supply inverters that can operate from 12 V batteries."
